the boy likes to brush!

Nathan likes to brush his teeth and his hair. In fact, the only thing that seems to occupy him enough to let someone else (ie mommy or daddy) brush his teeth is if we give him a hairbrush in one hand and a comb in the other. That way he can brush his hair, while we brush his teeth. It is always very cute.

signs of spring

when i was in college, spring break always came at the end of february. while i really welcomed the break from the day to day rigors, i never did understand 'spring' break in february!

maybe it would have all made more sense if i had spent some time in texas.

we have had weeds and new shoots of grass poking up all over the place over the past week or so. all of the bushes are also budding and the trees are getting greener. so we spent the day (at least the part that nathan was down for a nap) cutting the grass, pruning bushes, and just plain old enjoying the warmth of the sun. we really like being able to spend time outside. it is nathan's favorite place to be. we will have to be sure to save some 'outside time' for when he wakes up. :)

ps - don't be too upset if you are reading this from WI and not yet seeing spring. we are surely in for at least another bout of cold days before spring is here for good.

a wonderful visit from my parents!!

my parents came down to visit us in the beginning of february. we had SO much FUN! it was great to sit and talk and visit.

here are some pictures from their stay with us -

at the waco zoo: we really enjoyed the aquarium - we had watched 'finding nemo' in the van on the way there. so we all had fun picking out 'nemo' and 'dorie' and the other characters. don't worry, the driver didn't watch the movie :)

playing around the house

sitting on the hood of his car, just like the big boys do
nathan really likes his pockets!

saint martin III - final entry

journal entry from 1/18/08
the fresh market was not all we had hoped - the produce and fish all left something to be desired. the whirl of people in and out of stands selling all kinds of "island-wear" and paintings, and jewelry, and trinkets was a sight to take in! a buzz of chatter was all around.

nathan went with gran and pappy for a little while at the market. we caugt up with them after richard and i were through - we found them resting, afterall it is hard to sit in that stroller for too long!

after the market we went to "fort louis" which was built in 1767 to protect the settlement at marigot (the town the market was in) from foreign invaders. marigot was the major port for the island and we frequetnly being attacked. the plans were sent over directly from Versailles at the order of the French king, Louis XVI.
that is gran and pappy at the top:

with more snorkeling we have seen star fish, baby sting rays or manna rays or something - i was fine with just seeing two of them. but when we looked and saw the 2 join a group of about 6 or 8 more, that gave me a startle and i started to swim backwards! we also saw some new types of fish. one was very long and skinny with a long long nose and another was blue with a green stripe that went the lenght of his back all the way to his face. richard said it looked like he had green lips.

last night we had a chef come to the villa and cook and serve our food. the food was truly amazing! and it was SO MUCH fun.

here we are with the chef:

here are some extra, random fun picutres:

nathan after his first ever oreo cookie

here we are at 'baie de rouge' (aka red bay) - it looked pretty blue to me. silly frenchmen

thought it would be fun to be able to show the new baby that he was there too!

now THAT is relaxing!
