one mad baby

Before you watch the video below - here is the story - Noah was down for a nap. The phone rang and the volume on the reciever was up VERY loud (which it is normally not) and woke him up (which it does normally not). First I left him to see if he would fall back asleep -nope. So I tried everything to calm him down - snuggle, hold him, bounce him, rock him, play with him, let him get down and crawl around. . . nothing helped. SO I decided the only thing left to do was . . . video tape it
This is ONE MAD BABY!!! **warning - footage may be disturbing to the faint of heart (especially you Gran!)**

So blessed!!

Here are some pictures of what I like to call "School in the pool". I floated his foam letters in the water and let Nathan pick out and give me the ones I would ask for by name. :-) Much more fun that at the kitchen table!!

Nathan was pouring water, as seen below, and said - "I water Noah, make him grow more!"

Here is Noah's very last "Friday picture". He was born on a Friday, and we started that day - taking a picture of him every Friday until he turned a year old. This was the last one year old:

My baby is ONE!

This all does not seem that long ago!! I cannot believe it. That is it - he's going to leave for college before I know it!

Mother's Day

I am SO BLESSED to be a Mother! I have two wonderful boys and an amazing husband - all by the grace and provision of God.

Here are some pictures of our Mother's Day morning:

After Richard had to go to work, and the boys took naps - we headed over to Mike and Chrisi's house. We had a BLAST! The weather was absolutely beautiful - perfect for playing in the water! (A bit toasty to not be in the water - right Chrisi???)
looks happy, doesn't he??

What a fun day we had!!

p.s. I brought that sun hat for Noah to wear, but Nathan really wanted to wear it. Since Noah just normally takes hats off to chew them . . . I just let Nathan wear it. He loves hats!

Family news photos and movies

Depending on how long you have been following this you may remember the post about Nathan's first 'at-home' haircut. I just saw his hair in his eyes, got some scissors, water, and a comb . . . and the rest was plain to see. Noah's story is slightly different. He is MUCH more 'wiggly' than Nathan ever was. Every so often, I think of things and realize before I get started that they are not in my best interest to do. Giving Noah's first haircut single-handedly was one of those such ideas. So we waited until Ricahrd and I could both be there for the 'event'. Here are some before and afters:
Nathan LOVES airplanes. He often is one. Seriously, we are just walking through Wal-mart and all of the sudden you can't even see him - where he used to be there is now a small, single engine airplane! After close inspection, I can usually tell that it is actually Nathan walking with his hands out to his sides and dipping them accordingly to turn as needed. He is very convincing - just ask him. Anyway - the point is he loves airplanes, so Richard had a great idea. We went to the airshow in a nearby city last Saturday. He was SO excited we were barely in the gates before he was pointing and "ooo ooo"ing. He was a little nervous during the re-enactment / pyrotechnics part . . . no, he was terrified. He did recover well with some good ole redirecting and some shiny red planes. :) We had a great time.

Noah has learned two new skills. They are somewhat similar at first sight, but quite different in tone. The first is blowing kisses. He is naturally camera shy, and likes to make Mom a liar - so if you just want to fast fwd to the last 10 seconds or so of the video - you will see him blow kisses. If, on the other hand, you like to watch me try in vain to convince an 11 month old to perform - you may find the first minute amusing. (I do not. . . well a little . . . not much though)

His second new skill is asking for more food / saying "to eat" in sign language. Needless to say, this one is much easier to elicit.

Tonight was the last night for the kid's program (AWANA) at our church on Wednesdays. The younger ones get to go 'shopping' in the 'AWANA store'. I think the way it works is they get points throughout the year and 'spend' them on things. Not very sure - I help with an older class, and they don't go to the 'store.' Anyway - here are Nathan's treasures:

He is 'conducting' with his Chineese yo-yo here. He loves to be a conductor!
