Nathan has gotten so big in these last two weeks. He has started to play outside, in the backyard, by himself. He likes to 'hit golf balls' (plastic) and play baseball (t-ball). Sometimes he wants to go out to do these things and neither one us can go with him. There are just times that it is not possible. He was asking to go out one day, that this was the case - we just couldn't right then. It occurred to Richard and I, both, that there really was no reason he couldn't do it alone. There are no fire ants right now - the yard is fenced in totally - it was nice weather. So off he went, alone to hit golf balls and play baseball.
This past week, we went to Chik-fil-a so he could play in the indoor playscape / tunnels. We all sat in there for a while playing and having fun. Then it came time for us to use some coupons that were burning holes in our pockets. We were going to bring Nathan's food with us, since he is the only toddler I know that does not like chicken nuggets / strips. We ended up forgetting his food, so just figured we would eat quick then he could eat at home. We told him we were going to sit on the other side of the glass and eat. He could either "stay in here and play, or come and sit by Mommy and Daddy." He chose to stay in and play! I know that sounds like a 'no brainer'. But that is HUGE for him. He really likes to be RIGHT there when we are out someplace. As Richard and I sat to eat, Richard said to me, " He is having a blast in there. You know sweetheart, he is going to want to go and do things more on his own now." I could only respond with two fat tears in my eyes and said, "You are going to have to take him to college, I can't do it."
Last night, we all went in to put Noah to bed. Nathan crawled up in the spare bed in Noah's room and sat and waited for us to be done. Then we went to Nathan's room and got him ready and said his prayers. Just before he crawled into bed, I said to Richard, "What do you think about letting him sleep in Noah's room?" Richard had thought about the very same thing! So we asked him, and he was very excited to go sleep in "baby Noah's room". He was so quiet as he tip toed in and snuck under the covers. We didn't hear a peep out of him until Noah woke up once during the night. I heard a faint little voice say, "sssss Noah - ssss go ni-night." Then Nathan drifted back to sleep and Noah was soon to follow (after getting his blankee back thanks to Dad).
I love those boys!
